UFO appears during TV coverage of Hong Kong protests
A man in South Lanarkshire’s civil parish of Blantyre in Scotland was watching BBC coverage of the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong when he noticed something unusual in the sky.
Vincent Smith was perplexed by what he saw on the TV—a bright object slowly moving through the sky over Hong Kong. He apparently recorded the broadcast, and then recorded a video of his television as he replayed the broadcast to point out the UFO. He sent his video to local media outlet the Hamilton Advertiser.
The Hamilton Advertiser describes that the UFO “is seen flying diagonally before landing on a building and then shooting off vertically and at speed.”
Although this unidentified aerial object appears to hover near that building, rather than landing on it, its behavior is unusual. When the UFO first appears on the screen, this bright object moves in a smooth, straight flight path. But its “shooting off vertically” is what makes this object of interest.
It is rapidly becoming the norm to see aerial vehicles like drones and quadcopters above outdoor public gatherings like concerts, festivals, and protests. These remote-controlled craft are typically fitted with cameras and are used by media and law enforcement. The protests in Hong Kong are no exception. BBC posted a video to its website on Tuesday, September 30 showing footage of the protesters captured by a drone.
It is plausible that the object from the BBC broadcast noted by Smith is simply a media drone. Although the UFO in Smith’s video does appear to take off vertically at an incredible rate of speed, it is difficult to definitively determine directionality. The object could conceivably have been moving towards the camera, and not shooting vertically, creating the illusion of a rapid rate of speed. Additionally, some drones are capable of changing direction and altitude relatively quickly.
What do you think about the UFO pointed out by Smith? Is a media drone a plausible explanation, or do you think the craft’s observed behavior defies conventional explanation? Share your thoughts by posting a comment below, or by posting on the Open Minds Facebook page.
Exactly which tv news report on the BBC?
Oh look, someone used a laser pointing on the TV screen while video taping… how nice.
That there is a model 27I GalaxyCruiser with fine Corinthian leather seats.

There is a chance this video could be some sort of hoax, but your assertion that he is just standing in front of the T.V. with a laser pointer doesn’t seem to be the case. First off, it doesn’t LOOK like there is just a laser on the screen, as a strong green laser like that would illuminate the area around it, and usually have a visible beam. Secondly if you watch the video closely, the green light leaves the frame when it flies away. Were he pointing a laser, the light would have continued across the plastic bezel of the T.V.
It’s a shame how carelessly and constantly people dismiss UFO videos. What would this guy even gain from hoaxing a ufo video? Also if the guy is competent enough with a DVR, there is probably a way for him to upload that recorded video to the internet for direct analysis.
I believe it’s called a drone.
Im the guy who first spotted and posted the footage i have HD quality recording of it and i assure people it is absolutely GENUINE , no laserpens or whatever else! I think this could be among the most credible UFO footage eve! Better quality recording can be uploaded to whoever wants it , and lastly really dont think Its drone moving towards camera , ascends too quickly.
Would like to hear from Jason McClellan again on this.
This is a quad copter drone. Here is the video filmed by the drone. Notice all the same items and foot bridge.

I think it is a drone yes BUT, the question is whether an earth drone or extraterrestrial, it shooting straight up like that COULD indicate theirs but, it coukd just as easily be Media, Chinese, or some citizen that decided to create entertainment just fir a good laugh at the rest of us speculating. Thus is inanswrrable without expert ex’s,I abutilon if the footage with Chinese government corroboration by radar.
The CIA, however, has shown little interest in UFOs because
about 1950, except to encourage UFOlogists to believe that reconnaissance
flights may well be alien craft.
100% QUAD-COPTER. The guy filming off the TV tries to disguise how small the object actually is by saying “just bare with me”, and zooming out when the RC-QC initially appears in front of the building on the left.
If you forward the video frame by frame, you can see the RC-QC is clearly coming from left of picture and well in front of the building. I’ve also noticed that the con-artist Mister Enigma (YouTube) amongst others have also cropped the video so you can’t see the RC-QC dropping in from the left.
