Louisiana UFO tethers 300-foot ‘chrome object’

A Louisiana witness at Mandeville reported watching a hovering, sphere-shaped UFO that appeared to lower a 300-foot-long “chrome tether” from its body, according to testimony in Case 62930 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was driving along eastbound I-12 about 4 p.m. with a clear sky on January 24, 2015, when a small airplane was noticed making a sharp turn at a low altitude.

“When I looked for the plane a second time I noticed a chrome object in the sky stationary about 1,000 feet above the next interstate exit,” the witness stated. “As I got closer the object had lowered a chrome tether about 300 feet long.”

The witness then noticed a second, smaller object.

“The object had a small orb moving around the larger object. The larger object with the tether was not moving.”

The witness stopped at the exit and observed the object still about 800 to 1,000 feet in the air above.

“After about five minutes, the object retracted the chrome tether and slowly moved to the east, and then the object increased speed and was out of sight in less than one second.”

The witness decided to investigate.

“I called the National Weather Service in Slidell, LA, just 15 miles from the sighting to see if they were doing anything that might explain what I saw. I also contacted local airports to see if any pilots reported a sighting, and also called the New Orleans International Airport to see if they could validate the sighting on radar.”

The witness did not have much luck.

“The FAA has not returned my call as January 28, 2015. I understand the principals of lift and airfoils. This was not a plane or a weather balloon. It defied gravity without wings and no noise from engines. I have tried my best to explain this, but so for it remains a UFO.”

Mandeville is a city in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, population 11,560.

Please remember that most UFO sightings can be explained as something natural or man-made. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.

  2. In this day and age….everyone has a camera readily available to them. With no pics or videos I call shenanigans

  3. Considering I-12 in that area is always clogged with traffic, I find it very hard to believe no one else would have stopped or noticed it.

  4. Pics/Video or it did not happen. We live in the era of HD picket cameras and video cameras…..about time someone got ONE single half ass decent video of a ufo. But it seems people carry their 1998 camera phones just for recording UFO’s……

  5. I tend to agree with the other readers at this time. A report is just a story unless there are pictures and videos to help make the case. I recently had a good sighting near Seattle WA but did not report because I did not have proof of my sighting such as a pic or video. Now I make sure I at least have my.cell phone camera at the ready whenever I am out and about. I do keep my eyes to the skies to aid in the odds I will have another sighting….and this time be ready to show my proof for all to see.

  6. Even an eye witness accompanied by video is inconclusive. Night videos rarely depict anything of value. One must consider that its usually human nature to not produce a camera/iPhone when witnessing a highly unusual and/or life changing event. It has happened to me…

  7. I saw something in Covington, about 5 miles up the road from Mandeville. It was evening, I was driving home on Hwy 25(190) in Covington. This is a two lane road. As I approached an area where there is a mini storage facility, something ahead was going over the road around tree top level and it was very large. At first I thought it was a plane coming from Hammond Airport or perhaps a Mosquito helicopter spraying but it was much too large for either one. Also, there was absolutely no sound. The sighting lasted about 10-15 seconds and it flew directly over my head into the tree line. The color was dark, the lights were not of a helicopter or plane. I got home and told my girlfriend. She could see I was concerned. Very strange.
