Locals suspect UFO videos in Stamford are a TV stunt
A local newspaper in the English town of Stamford is beginning to suspect a TV production crew may be behind two mysterious UFO videos that have shown up on YouTube recently. One of them was tweeted by a celebrity who is in Stamford today to “check it out.”
The first UFO video over Stamford appeared on YouTube on August 7, 2013. The account is under the name Bernadette Fielding and was only a few days old when the video was posted. There is no information about the person who posted it, and the only video on the account is the UFO video. These are all red flags when it comes to online UFO videos. Even more disturbing is that the video shows a light moving across the sky over a field of cows, and a CGI looking cow in the middle of the herd seems to jump into the air. This could be a clue left by the maker of the video that it is a joke.
The second video is from an account named Will Jenkinson that again has no description and was only created the day the “UFO” video was posted. It shows some young men on Broad Street in Stamford looking at strange lights in the sky who keep repeating, “What the f___ is that?” Yeah, be wary of the explicit language when you watch the video.
Although it has the same red flags as the first video when it comes to the YouTube account and lack of information, this one was tweeted by a British celebrity. Stacey Soloman, who first gained stardom in 2009 as a contestant on the X-Factor and has gone on to develop a career as a singer and reality TV star, tweeted this second video along with a note that she was going to Stamford to “check it out for a new TV taster.”

Sure enough, she is creating a buzz today in Stamford with people tweeting their Solomon sightings. Some girls at a coffee house got their picture with her. One tweeter, @bartel_, asked “Why is Stacey Solomon in Stamford (sic)? No one comes here.”

Why indeed, and what does it have to do with UFOs? That is what the Rutland & Stamford Mercury newspaper is wondering. They say that when they posted the story about the second UFO video online they heard from several readers who told them a TV crew had been wandering around town asking people about sightings of “strange lights.”
One group who were approached by the TV crew assumed they were being asked about “strange goings on” in the area because they were dressed in steampunk outfits as part of the first Stamford Steampunk Festival, but they were told it was something else. Another group was told that the production crew was asking about the strange lights as part of a show called The Village that is set to air in November. The BBC already has a show called The Village that aired this spring about a working class family in the late 1910s.
The Rutland & Stamford Mercury says that a company called Objective Productions confirmed they had a crew filming in Stamford last week, but they would not share any details. Is this the same group that is filming today with Solomon? Do they know more about these mysterious lights, and are they the creators of the YouTube videos?
The Rutland & Stamford Mercury aims to find out. They are suspicious this whole affair is a TV stunt. Let’s hope they get to the bottom of it.
It seems Bernadette has a twitter account which has been around for a few weeks longer @BernyFields. If it’s a TV stunt, they’ve obviously been planning for a while…
