Fast moving UFO passes over Costa Mesa, CA

A California witness at Costa Mesa reported watching a silent object with four, round lights that appeared to be traveling low and fast across the sky 9:10 p.m. on December 14, 2014, according to testimony in Case 61992 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was walking to his car when the object was seen between two airplanes.

“The object was traveling from east to west at a high rate of speed,” the witness stated. “It was four lights in a fixed triangle position pointing west and traveling west. No sound was observed and no contrails were observed.”

The witness described the object.

“The lights were perfect circles and large lights. It could have been four individual objects but there seemed to be an object they were attached to that was almost translucent or clear. The object seemed high, but not too high, maybe 1,000-5,000 feet overhead. Seemed very large due to the size of the lights. Each light seemed to be as large as a whole airplane at that height and a solid soft white. The speed was very fast – 5-7 times faster than a plane traveling across the sky.”

The object could have been easily missed.

“At first I almost looked right past the object due to its quiet nature and almost hologram appearance. I have no idea what this object was but it was unlike anything I have ever observed before. Attached is an image I found online. This is exactly what I saw – the exact shape.”

Costa Mesa is a city in Orange County, California, population 109,960. California has a current UFO Alert Rating of 5 with a low number of recent reports nationally. California had 44 UFO reports that occurred during November 2014 – calculated at 1.16 sightings per million population.

  1. I saw this craft glide over me during the 9pm hour on the same day only it was in Pasadena, Ca. The craft was Black/triangular with round lights. It flew smoothly over me with precision and great speed. There was no sound whatsoever that came from it. The UFO seemed to appear out of nowhere, I tracked it, and as it passed over some trees I immediately lost sight of it.

  2. I saw the same in Brea. I was heading North on Birch When I saw a bright light which kept dimming and coming back on very bright. I turned to my wife and told her jokingly, “look a ufo”. She looked at me and said yea right, Then out of nowhere another light came on next to the original one we were looking at. We were in disbelief. Both lights kept moving around in different positions. When we got to a red light I looked at the car to our right and they also were looking at the ufo. I’ve never seen anything like this before…

  3. I saw a UFO bouncing around the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains in 1998. I was in an office building in Irvine. My officemates and I were in a meeting when we noticed a chrome-like sphere “bouncing” is the best way to describe it. It did not float, or move linearly. It just sort of bounced. It was a day after a storm, and so there were still broken clouds in the sky. I judged its distance to be about ten miles away. It would disappear behind some passing clouds that were moving over the Santa Ana Mountains, and then reappear. My officemates and I watched it for what seemed like only a few minutes. But then, we realized an hour had passed. I know it was an hour because we went to the conference room for a lunch time Bible study at 12 noon. Next thing we know, it was 1:00 pm. We were all kind of like in a stupor. One of the guys said that we had been abducted. I wouldn’t go that far, but I felt we were somehow hypnotized. We couldn’t account for an hour of time.

15 years later, I saw that same UFO in the Anaheim Hills area. Same sort of weather. A day after a storm, and broken clouds in the sky. I was flying a kite with my daughter and her friend in a park, when I saw the chrome sphere. Hard to judge its size, because it was way up there. If I had to guess, I would say about 10 to 15 feet in diameter. My daughter didn’t see it, but here friend did. We only saw it for a few seconds, when it disappeared.

  4. For the record, the photo used in this story is from 1952 .

August 1, 1952 -The United States Coast Guard released a photograph of an unidentified aerial phenomena (i.e. a UFO).
The photograph was taken by a 21-year-old Coast Guard photographer on 16 July, at the Salem Coast Guard Air Station.

Coast Guard Officer Shell R. Alpert snapped the photograph of what appears to be four UFOs.

The UFOs were also witnessed by Coastguardsman Thomas Flaherty.

  5. Lots of drones flying around everywhere these days….some could easily have lights…..I saw one flying around near FIRE WORKS (too close) on the 4th of July ’14. But who knows. I’m hoping they’re out there, just like everybody else. But I must try and debunk first.

  6. so supposedly some people have caught this sighting on camera & then the government erased every video of this or something. idk I’m not exactly sure but that’s what I heard.

  7. Sorry to burst your bubble but the top black and white photos were taken and published in the Salem News (Massachusetts) newspaper in 1952. The is the Salem Coal Power plant in the background near the Salem Willows area. Even though it occurred before my birth, I am from that area and it is a well-know photo. Google it.

  8. read the caption of the photo

“The witness attached this photo found on the Internet that matched what was seen in the sky on December 14, 2014. (Credit: MUFON)”

It was NOT a photo of the report, just SIMILAR to what the witness saw….

  9. I was a security guard in Irvine and saw a UFO. I was some miles away but it was very clear. It
looked to me to be hovering above South Coast Plaza. It looked saucer shaped and I remember it looked black. But, underneath it different colored lights were flashing. I watched it for about 15 minutes. Then, from behind me two military small jets zoomed over right toward the saucer from El Toro base. The saucer quickly scooted
to the small hills north and started skipping up and down the hills. It was too fast for jets. No noise.
This was in 1998. Hundreds of people had to have seen this.
