Case Closed: MUFON Investigators close March 2014 cases – Part 3
Florida witness wants details on ‘rocket-like’ object
A Charlotte County, FL, witness is wondering what the “rocket-like” object was that moved over his home about 9:55 p.m. on March 14, 2014, according to testimony in Case 54707 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was outside in a front yard walking a dog when the object was first noticed. The case was reported to MUFON on March 15, 2014.
“I noticed it because it looked like a rocket ship with a big flame going straight up,” the witness stated. “It looked like it was miles away. It seemed like it was ascending faster than our rockets, but I didn’t think anything more until the big fire ball went out.”
Then the object appeared to stop gaining altitude.
“It stopped ascending about a mile or two up. Then it started flying north towards me very fast. In seconds it covered hundreds of miles flying over my house.”
The object moved overhead.
“When it was above me, it was a round object, glowing a dark orange color. I was waiting for the sound to catch up to it and was expecting a loud boom, but it never made a sound. I was confused and tried to make sense of it, but I’ve never seen anything or heard of anything move that fast. I’m still scratching my head in amazement.”
Florida State Director Morgan Beall investigated and closed this case as an Unknown.
“It is unclear what the witness saw,” Beall stated in his report. “All attributes lean toward a rocket launch of some sort but it is not known due to the fact there are no listed launches. The duration of the sighting is too long to be attributed to a typical firework or similar item. Currently the case can be deemed an Unknown UAV until further information is presented.”
Silent triangle UFO dips low over Ohio town
An Ohio witness in Austintown reported watching two silent black triangle UFOs under 330 feet off the ground that passed over State Route 46 at I-680 about 8:20 p.m. on March 18, 2014, according to testimony in Case 54801.
The witness was eastbound along I-76 and crossing over the Meander Creek Reservoir Bridge when two orange lights were first noticed in the sky.
“The two lights did not seem to be moving but were rather stationary,” the witness stated. “As I came closer to the S.R. 46 overpass I noticed that the lights were slightly moving.”
The witness then crossed under the overpass.
“I looked up and to the left (north) and observed two black triangles to be seemingly gliding at about 200-330 feet off of the ground. Upon further observation I also noticed the second triangle to be approximately 30-50 feet behind the first and slightly higher. Both black triangles were gliding without any noise; not typical for flying objects, especially this low to the ground.”
Ohio Field Investigator Sandra Magliocca closed this case as an Unknown.
“I spoke with the witness for several hours about this sighting,” Magliocca stated in her case file. “Witness is highly reliable and the most interesting aspect of the sighting is the fact that another witness reported seeing glowing/orange objects with tails in the exact location about three hours previous to this sighting. (See case #54849). I made several attempts by phone and email to contact that witness without any return communication.
“After speaking with the witness I checked with Austintown Ohio Police Department dispatch to see if anything of this nature had been reported the night of the sighting and was told that nothing had been. Also, attempted to check with local Air Force base/Youngstown Airport but was not able to reach anyone that would give me any information.
“The witness gave the same description during interview as shown in event description. Unable to gain any more information about the sighting at this time.
“This is the second black triangle sighting reported in less than four months with previous Case #52947 having reported triangular shaped UFO December 24, 2013 in the same geographical area.
“Note by CFI: Youngstown Regional Airport is 9.5 miles NNE of the sighting location. The airport not only handles commercial air traffic but Ohio National Guard air wing. The unit flies C130 cargo planes.”
Second Ohio witness reports March 18 UFO
An Ohio witness at Massillon became the second Ohio witness to come forward March 19, 2014, with details on a UFO encounter from the previous evening, according to testimony in Case 54808.
Case 54801 occurred in Austintown at 8:20 p.m. involving two silent black triangle UFOs operating less than 330 feet off of the ground on March 18, 2014. The account was covered as: Silent triangle UFO dips low over Ohio town.
Then 65 minutes later in Massillon and approximately 60 miles southwest of Austintown, a witness had stepped outside for a cigarette while talking to a friend on the telephone when lights in the sky were noticed.
“There were 10-20 large green balls all in a perfect straight line, all steady on,” the witness stated. “Then they started to blink, faster and faster, to a strobe, and they all went out at the exact same moment. This was like 3-4 seconds and it was over.”
The witness described the lights.
“It appeared to be up to a quarter mile long, in a southwest to northeast line. It might have been as low as 800 feet over the neighborhood. It was low and right there, and it was scary. I told my friend on the phone what it looked like.”
Ohio Chief Investigator Tom Wertman closed this case as an IFO – Identified Flying Object.
“I attempted to contact the witness multiple times by email and phone with no response,” Wertman stated in his case report. “I used Stellarium to identify natural or man-made celestial objects in the region of the sky identified by the witness. There were no major satellites or clusters of highly visible stars. The witness does live SSW of Akron-Canton Airport. The airport accommodates both commercial and National Guard aircraft.
“A Cessna 208 flight CSJ915 from Rickenbacker was in the region and landed at Akron-Canton at 9:28 p.m. Flight data was not available on other air traffic for March 18. Aircraft coming in for approach from the SSW to NNE are a possibility.
“Winds were form the ESE at 5.8 mph. This is ideal for Chinese lanterns. The lanterns should have been carried by the wind to the WNW. The witness described the objects as between 4 and 10 feet in size, pulsating and stretching from the SW to NE. This is the same direction as the wind. The witness stated he only observed the objects from 4-5 seconds and they were gone. He also said they just appeared. It is not known how high the cloud cover was. It is possible if the objects were lanterns they either went out or disappeared into cloud cover.
“There was no connection to the power outage and the sighting. The witness reported a flash and then the outage to between 80 and 2,000 customers. This appears to be due to a transformer going out and affecting an isolated area.
“I believe the witness observed a man-made object in the form of aircraft or lanterns. The case is closed as IFO-Manmade.”
Triangle UFO projects light beam onto Illinois witness
An Illinois witness reported a UFO incident with four friends at a gravel pit just outside of Freeport involving a triangle UFO under 20 feet that projected a beam of light to the ground, according to March 20, 2014, testimony in Case 54829.
The witness and four friends were walking into the gravel pit about 8 p.m. on July 1, 1997, when a bright light was first noticed in the western sky.
“The others first dismissed the light as a star,” the witness stated. “For some reason I stayed fixated on the light as we kept walking. Soon the light was too bright to ignore and we all started watching it as it approached directly toward us.”
The witness described the light.
“The object was moving extremely slow. I would measure maybe 5-10 mph. As it approached, what had appeared to be one bright light was now visibly two bright lights in the front and smaller lights in the rear and sides. As it came closer I could begin to hear a silent noise that I can only describe as a hovering sound or ‘quiet mechanical air.'”
The object then emitted a beam of light.
“As the craft was almost 15 to 20 feet directly above us, a light came on and projected down straight onto one of the friends I was with. This image will be burned into my brain for the rest of my life. When the beam shined onto him we all began to run and as I looked back I saw him take cover behind a nearby pile of gravel. The light stayed on him as the craft continued to travel east over the tree line and then turned off.”
The witness could not identify the object.
“This was not a helicopter or an ultra light plane. After the craft had flown past the tree line we looked back in the direction it had come from and saw 4-5 of the same lights heading in separate directions from west to north. I have reoccurring dreams about the event and think about it constantly.”
Illinois Field Investigator James Wolford and Illinois state Director Samuel Maranto closed this case as an Unknown.
“The ability of the object to hover and move at extremely slow speeds rules out most man-made devices,” the investigator’s stated in their report. “A drone with rotating propellers such as a quad-copter is the only category of object that works well here. There is a possible match to the noise heard also.
“The object in this sighting, apparently a smaller triangle with lighting on its sides, was not reported by anyone else. It may be very real, but there is no confirmation from other observers in the general area. The witness needs to agree to an interview and share what he knows about the sighting and provide the names of the other witnesses. Arranging additional interviews would be helpful.
“At this point I am willing to give the case a disposition of Unknown – Other, but feel that additional inputs are needed. A revision of this case report could occur when it is possible to do it.”
Oregon witness considering Bigfoot and UFO light beam connected
An Oregon witness in the Fish Lake area reported photographing an odd light beam in the sky after watching unusual insect behavior in the same area where a Bigfoot researcher was working the previous day, according to March 19, 2014, testimony in Case 54822.
The witness notes that a Bigfoot researcher was in the area September 1, 2012, and had “recorded a very long Bigfoot call” at 8:30 p.m. The witness and her husband were in the same area traveling home on September 2, 2012, along a stretch of road seven miles long.
“We looked up and saw black streaks in the sky,” the witness stated. “They were swarms. I didn’t hear a sound and I know that they weren’t bees or locusts; we thought they were mosquitoes. The swarm only followed the road and the multitude of them ran longer than the length of the entire road (7 miles). We knew that this was a highly unusual activity and decided to pull the truck over and park.”
The witness took three photos: Image 1, Image 2 and Image 3.
“The first photo shows an oncoming swarm. It is highly unusual for a swarm to form at this time of day. You can see in the first photo that there was one light in the sky or what appeared to be a light in the sky at the time of the photograph. The second photo shows three lights in the sky.”
The witness then took the third image.
“I turned to the back of the parked truck to photograph what I couldn’t see, but could feel. The IR on my camera is always on. I clicked the third image. I couldn’t see anything but found it compelling to take the photograph. I put it on my computer and saw orbs traveling in the beam that the IR on my camera captured. I also saw the swarm encircling the beam.”
Oregon Chief Investigator Douglas Helbling and Field Investigator Keith Rowell closed this case as an Unknown.
“This case is being classified as ‘Unknown – Other’ because there remains a possibility that the camera picked up something not visible to the witness,” the investigators stated in their case report. “There is enough history in the UFO lore of cameras suddenly developing problems while present during a phenomenon event that this is not beyond the realm of reasonableness.
“I believe that there is still a possibility that the image is only a camera malfunction or accidently capture of an in-vehicle light source, but believe ‘Unknown – Other’ is somewhat more likely. I do not believe that there was anything beyond normal about the swarms that were sighted, nor do I believe that there is anything significant linking this case to reported Bigfoot sighting in the area.”
California witnesses videotape UFO making intelligent maneuvers
Two witnesses in Concord, CA, reported watching and videotaping a green light UFO that apparently moved intelligently before they lost sight of it to nearby trees, according to March 20, 2014, testimony in Case 54836.
The reporting witness and his wife were in the backyard when a green light was seen to the southeast about 10:10 p.m. on March 14, 2014.
“Seemed about 4 or 5 miles out maybe and 200 or 300 hundred feet up,” the witness stated. “I was joking to her and saying, ‘Look, a U.F.O.’ and then I thought to myself – Look, no flashing lights. As she looks it starts making these sudden jerking movements and then just stops.”
While his wife ran inside to get his telephone to capture video, the object began moving side-to-side.
“My wife gives me my phone and I film it going across the sky with jerking motions, northbound. Then it stops again and looks like it turns red. It has what seems like a port on the side with a light – solid green – then red – then back to green. We watch as it starts to go down very slow and then disappears behind some trees of our neighbors.”
The two ran to the front yard for a better view, but were unable to see the object again.
California State Section Director Gerald Elmore closed this case as an IFO – Identified Flying Object. The witness did not make himself available for an interview.
“The object seen in the video appears entirely consistent with being a remote-controlled quad copter, or similar RC device equipped with LED lighting,” Elmore stated in his case report.
Georgia witness reports silent hovering triangle UFO
A Marietta, GA, witness reported watching three bright lights that formed a triangle and hovered over a nearby apartment building before silently shooting up into the night sky, according to March 24, 2014, testimony in Case 54910.
The witness was inside in a bedroom when bright lights were noticed in the night sky at 4:24 a.m. on March 15, 2013.
“I saw a bright light and then another and then another,” the witness stated. “It was in the shape of a triangle. It descended from the night sky above the apartment building across from my bedroom window.”
The witness described the light’s movement.
“It moved from left to right showing one light and then all three. It was stationary for about 20-30 minutes and moved back from left to right and then back to left and went to the center above two trees and then shot up into the night sky without any sound.”
The witness was afraid and could not identify the object.
“I kept watching it with my eyes through my window blinds. I was really scared I didn’t know what to think of it at all.”
Georgia Field Investigators Susan Kinney and Sandra Johnston closed this case as an Unknown.
“The description of the object does not match any natural or manmade phenomenon that I could find,” the investigators stated in their report. “As this was a historical report, there is no physical evidence beyond the CMS report and the witness’ observations. Photos were taken of the observation site.
“I believe the witness saw something that I cannot find an explanation for, therefore I am closing this case as Unidentified Aerial Vehicle which seems to be the correct choice at this point in time.”
Florida couple encounters unusual lights in the woods
A Florida couple at Port St. Lucie reported an unusual encounter with lights in a wooded area, according to March 24, 2014, testimony in Case 54912.
The couple had gone into the wooded area to release grasshoppers when they saw two “illuminated objects” moving just above the trees near their car about 10:20 a.m. on March 22, 2014.
“My husband asked me what were,” the reporting witness stated. “I told him to roll down the windows and we noticed no sound at all so we stated that they couldn’t be planes. We only heard a sound of a larger plane flying.”
The wife then got out of the vehicle and walked into the woods to release the grasshoppers.
“I told my husband to keep an eye because I didn’t want to be taken. I was joking. When I came back to the car we sat and I watched to see where the previous UFOs went.”
The woman looked over her husband’s shoulder and noticed another object.
“This one was really odd! It was like a big ball of flames again. We commented that there was no sound. I, like an idiot, decided to yell at it. That’s when we got scared. It wobbled to a stop, turned toward us, and at that point my husband told me to not do that.”
The witness described the object.
“We noticed that the flames made no sound and were a dark, almost artificial looking, red with no blue or white tips, in them. The UFO, we got the feeling, for some reason, got angry and the flames suddenly flared up like someone poured gasoline on a fire. At that point we grew really quiet and we edged closer to the car doors.”
The witness noted the object’s movement.
“The fireball wobbled, then turned around and gently sailed off in the same direction that the other two went, and then it vanished like the other two did before getting close to the power lines.”
Florida Field Investigator Dinah Lechner closed this case as an IFO – Identified Flying Object.
“Due to windy conditions during the time period I believe the witness saw a wind tornado with flying paper or other debris such as a falling limb and it bridged the gap on the transformers of the power lines and caused a spark. I am closing this case as an IFO – Natural Phenomena.”
San Diego witness reports chasing UFO
A San Diego, CA, witness reported watching and chasing a UFO to the base of a mountain where she observed it hovering just 20 feet away, according to March 23, 2014, testimony in Case 54897 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was outside using a telescope at 3:30 a.m. on August 1, 2012, when the object was first noticed and thought it was a low flying airplane.
“Then I noticed the lights were different from an airplane,” the witness stated. “They were all red and going in a rhythmic blink, blink, blink, blink, blink around the craft. I live two blocks from the Pacific Ocean, and it was coming from that direction going east. Lindbergh Field (airport) is in San Diego just north of me and I’m very familiar with the flight paths of airplanes in this area. This craft was acting completely different from a plane or a helicopter.”
The witness ran inside to retrieve keys and got into her vehicle to chase the object.
“I had to run several red lights and stop signs as I zigzagged across town. I kept hoping the police would see me, or maybe I would come across another car, but there was nobody out that early in the morning. After 20 minutes I was on the outskirts of town, at the base of the mountains just east of San Diego.”
The witness then noticed that the object was slowing down.
“And if I didn’t slow down, I was going right under it! All of a sudden it stopped in mid-air. I quickly pulled over to the side of the road and turned off my car and headlights. The clock on my car said 4 a.m. I was terrified that it had noticed me following it. I scrunched down in my seat so it wouldn’t see me and decided I wasn’t taking my eyes off this thing until I saw what it was going to do next.”
The witness sat in her car for 45 minutes while the object hovered just 20 feet away.
“And it was totally silent. This thing didn’t make a sound, but my heart was pounding like crazy. After 45 minutes there was a bright flash in the sky, like the flash of a camera only much brighter. The UFO seemed to be getting smaller, but that didn’t make any sense.”
The object began to rise up into the sky.
“And the higher it got, the smaller it got. I watched as it got smaller and smaller, and eventually it was so small it just blended with the stars, but I could still see faint red lights blinking around it. It was getting light outside and, no longer fearful, I started up my car and drove home. I was very emotional on the way home. The realization hit me that all those people who’ve said they saw UFOs really were telling the truth.”
California State Section Director Melvin Podell investigated and closed this case as Information Only as this is a historical case.
California witness reports triangle UFO at rooftop
A California witness at Atascadero reported watching a triangle-shaped object silently moving at the rooftop level that appeared to be 10 feet long and five or more feet high, according to March 25, 2014, testimony in Case 54936.
The witness was near Santa Ysabel Avenue on the Central Coast in Atascadero and first saw the object heading north-northeast moving over rooftops just at the top of nearby trees about 1:30 a.m. on March 21, 2002.
“It made a swish or swoosh sound like a hang glider and it was very quiet, flying silently over the neighborhood,” the witness stated.
The witness described the object.
“It was triangular with lights that seemed to blink slightly and had some pulse. The size was about 10-plus feet long and looked about five or more feet high. I’m reminded of a slightly grayish color, dark gray and lighter color almost white like a light gray on the bottom. The rest was black shades and it was hard to make out all of it in the dark.”
California State Section Director Jeff Krause investigated and closed this case as IFO – Identified Flying Object. “This was a historical case and the witness most likely mistook the identity of a stealth aircraft or similar type aircraft from Lemoore Air Force Base – which is nearby,” Krause stated in his report.
Florida witness describes ‘morphing UFO’ at close range
Two Florida witnesses at Margate reported watching a “morphing UFO” that dropped to ground level, according to March 26, 2014, testimony in Case 54956.
The reporting witness and her boyfriend first saw a “glowing light which first appeared as an airplane” and caused them to look closer as the object was hovering about 10:59 p.m. on February 28, 2014.
“The more I stared at it, it then started swaying side-to-side, and all of a sudden it started coming closer to me and within seconds it was too close for comfort.”
The woman called to her boyfriend.
“We ran out to my driveway, saw the airplane, heard the ‘airplane,’ but that all faded when it completely transformed and morphed and started to descend fast and drop towards the ground in a vertical position.”
The witness described the object.
“It turned into a light blueish-teal orb that looked like a distorted, pix-elated plane. At that moment the thing was literally 10 to 15 feet away from us. It darted towards a baseball field in the area. I kept thinking about what I had just seen, and before I could do anything, I looked to my right and he was gone.”
Florida State Section Director Mary Margaret Zimmer investigated and closed this case as an IFO – Identified – Man Made Object.
“This appears to be another case of a drone or toy being flown in this area,” Zimmer stated in her report. “The low altitude, buzzing sound, erratic movement and color changing are characteristic of these devices. Fifteen to 20 planes flew by without taking notice of the object.”
Indiana UFO was ‘few hundred feet’ away
An Indiana witness traveling along State Route 67 between Oaklandon and McCordsville reported watching a silent, low flying UFO that was only a few hundred feet away about 10:30 p.m. on March 26, 2014, according to testimony in Case 54981.
The witness had just left a restaurant and was headed east-northeast on Highway 67 when the object was first seen.
“The road curves north for a brief moment, and I noticed three really bright lights in a triangular pattern to my northeast,” the witness stated. “I thought, ‘It’s just a plane, but that’s really low.'”
The witness moved closer to the object as the road went into a bend toward the northeast.
“I was able to see several more, smaller lights (but not of any color, and no red or green light signaling any sort of wing) around the three large lights, which I could then tell were pulsating. I couldn’t make out any sort of lines that would give off the shape of the object.”
The witness stopped at a red light between Oaklandon and McCordsville, turned off both his heater and radio, and rolled his window down to listen for sound.
“By this point, the object was slightly behind and to the left of me. It couldn’t have been more than a few hundred feet away from me, but it was absolutely silent. I know planes do not hover, and I know helicopters are audible from the distance I was from this object.”
Indiana State Section Director David Henninger and Field Investigator Jeremy Little closed this case as an Unknown.
“I personally live only about six miles from the sighting area,” the investigators stated in their report. “I am very familiar with the geographic area. I drove through it again shortly after receiving this report. I am aware of no structures that could account for the sighting. I examine flight paths in the landing patterns for Indianapolis International Airport. I have personally seen jumbo jets using these landing patterns and traveling over the town of Fortville and nearby areas many, many times. This landing pattern can be confirmed easily with the MUFON aircraft identification tool located on the MUFON website.
“Since this is a flyby sighting only with only a single witness and no other identifiable witnesses, with no trace evidence, further investigation is impossible.
“The witness is a student with no military career or professional background at this time. My impression is that he is levelheaded and not prone to fantasy.
“Within a few days of the sighting a similar object with only a single light at the apex rather than lights in a triangular pattern was cited some 50 miles to the southeast near Indianapolis International Airport (IND) as Case 55088. In addition to that other cases were reported near the Avon area approximately 60 miles west of the sighting. One of these is Case 47112. Sightings of triangular objects are common in Indiana.
“I believe this is a genuine sighting of an unknown.”
Triangle UFO hovers 300 feet over Ohio family
Three Ohio witnesses at Louisville reported watching a silent, black, triangle-shaped UFO hover 300 feet above their vehicle that seemed to have a psychological effect on them, according to March 27, 2014, testimony in Case 54976.
The reporting witness was traveling to school with his mother and younger sister about 7 a.m. on April 11, 1999, when a bright star was first noticed.
“We came to the stop sign at the end of our neighborhood road,” the witness stated. “I noticed in the east at about 35-40 degrees, an extremely bright star was pulsating. I pointed this out to my mother and sister and we watched for approximately 30 seconds.”
Then they noticed a second light move out of the first light that dropped down and momentarily hovered in place.
“The second light from our viewpoint, circled the first with great speed three times and then immediately zoomed overhead of some power lines to the right of the vehicle. I felt a sudden panic and then calmness washed over me. The panic I felt seemed to disappear and if I had a camera at the time, I wouldn’t of been able to photograph it.”
The witness described the object.
“We were all in a stupor and observed a black triangle at about 300 feet in the air, sitting stationary without making a noise. There were four lights on the bottom of the craft. Three pulsating, color changing lights on each corner of the triangle and one red light in the center. The corner lights changed from red to orange to yellow and back repeatedly for about three minutes. As the sun was rising, we all had a very good daytime view of the object.”
The object moved away quickly.
“Then it accelerated to a ridiculous amount of speed very, very quickly out to the west. The object did not change direction from its origin to its leaving.”
Ohio Chief Investigator Tom Wertman closed this case as an Unknown.
“This is an interesting case since there may have been a highly traumatic event that affected the witness,” Wertman stated in his report. “I find it interesting that the witness filed two reports on the same event exactly five years apart. The witness appears to be obsessed with this event.
“The physiological effects in the report list insomnia, impaired thinking, memory lapses and obsessions as some of the effects.
“While there are some inconsistencies in the report such as exact time and date, the witness appears fixated on the event that happened around the reported date.
“I am closing the case based on the information in the CMS report. The case is being closed as Unknown UAV.”
Cube UFO hovers over Indiana home
An Indiana witness at Gary reported watching a distant light in the sky move quickly to his location and hover as a cube shaped-object just two houses away, according to March 28, 2014, testimony in Case 55003.
The witness had a second floor bedroom with a window facing east that looked out over the rooftops of nearby homes. The witness entered the room in darkness and immediately noticed a star 45-degrees from the horizon that caught his attention about 10 p.m. on May 1, 1964.
“I went to the window and cupped my hands around my face to block the reflections of light from the room,” the witness stated. “I was riveted there as the ‘star’ grew brighter and appeared to be approaching.”
The object moved very rapidly to his location.
“It came straight at me, terrifying me. It stopped approaching when it reached a tall tree two houses over.”
The witness described the object.
“It appeared roughly cubic in shape but without sharp edges. It reminded me of the glowing end of a cigarette (cherry). It hovered there over the tree for a moment and rotated slightly revealing that it was three-dimensional.”
The object then began to move.
“Then it moved over the house behind and then quickly came back toward me. It passed my window and went around the corner of the house and out of sight. About 10 feet in diameter. Slightly glowing mottled surface, cube shape but with soft edges. Reminiscent of a cigarette ‘cherry.’ Clear night. Note, I was a couple blocks from a swamp and undeveloped land.”
Indiana State Section Director Patrick Harbron closed this case as an Unknown.
“Accurately determining the orientation, flight characteristics (course, altitude, route, acceleration/deceleration, hover) and physical appearance are difficult in the best of conditions by trained observers,” Harbron stated in his report.
“In low visibility or night conditions, accurate observations are compounded exponentially. Even though the shape may appear discernible to the witness, target orientation to the human eye can distort the accurate interpretation of the true identity of the object. Without identifiable exterior lighting on the object, accurate identification is further complicated making the identification near impossible.
“The witness has little to consider for identification with only a ‘shadow’ or vague image moving in the night or day sky. In this case, there was no identifiable or additional lighting available (i.e. the moon) for target acquisition and identification. Probable source/cause of the sighting is Unknown.”
Witness considers disc UFO observing Montana dam
A Hungry Horse, MT, witness reported an early morning encounter with a disc-shaped UFO that hovered about 1,000 feet overhead that appeared to be observing a new dam being built, according to March 28, 2014, testimony in Case 55007.
The young witness and his “grade school buddy” were sleeping in a camper where a blanket covered one side the morning of May 7, 1951.
“We woke up early in the morning and moved the blanket to look out,” the witness stated. “When we opened the blanket we noticed an object coming from the north near Glacier National Park, MT. At first we thought it might be an airplane which would be extremely rare. As kids of the age of 11 or 12 we were very interested in building model airplanes so wanted we keep watching. It wasn’t moving very fast.”
The object then moved very close by.
“When we got a closer look of the object it was disk -shaped, dull gray luster, and a slight dome in the top. It was not any kind of airplane etc. of that time in the early 1950s. We then became excited and wanted a better look at the object so ran into the house and retrieved a set of 750 size field glasses which are very powerful.”
They watched the object through the binoculars.
“The object hovered approximately 1,000 feet above the city of Hungry Horse, MT, where at the time the Hungry Horse Damn was just being completed. It hovered for several minutes and then very slowly began moving to our right approximately one-half mile, then stopped and hovered again. I got the idea that it might be observing Hungry Horse Dam.”
The object began to move again.
“After hovering for a few minutes again it began ascending in a left arc at an extremely high rate of speed into the cloud cover.”
Montana State Director William Puckett closed this case as an Unknown.
“Hungry Horse is in a mountain valley in Glacier National Park and is west of the Continental Divide in northwest Montana,” Puckett stated in his report.
“The case is over 60 years old so it is difficult to collaborate the sighting with other sightings. His report was quite explicit and contained valuable details. No correlating cases found. I am closing this as Unidentified – Unknown.
Pennsylvania woman describes alien encounter
A Pittsburgh witness reported being taken during the night from her home by a “pale and florescent” man with black eyes, according to March 28, 2014, testimony in Case 54929.
“I live in Pittsburgh, PA, and I am a war veteran from the Iraq War,” the witness stated. “I was asleep last night on my comfortable chair when these things happened. When I am got up the next morning, the cross I was wearing was tied up around itself and the temperature in the house was turned up to 71 degrees.”
The witness described the events as they unfolded beginning about 9:14 p.m. on March 23, 2014.
“It was about 9 p.m. Sunday night and I noticed as I was watching TV it was getting hot in the room and I fell asleep. In what I thought was a dream, I was in a place that looked like my house in Erie, PA, that I grew up in. I came down the stairs from what looked like a bedroom to a kitchen, and spoke to a person I knew. I then noticed a huge black hole in the floor that came from out of nowhere. I looked down at the hole, but for some reason I wasn’t afraid because this man came into the room and he was very pale and florescent, about 6-foot and had black eyes.”
The man spoke.
“The man spoke to me and the other girl and said, ‘This is the proof we are here,’ and then he said, ‘You can go back because you have gone through enough, but we will take many others.’ He did not speak but was sending this telepathically.”
The witness felt as though she was not dreaming and that the events were very real.
“I realized this was no dream and I went back through the hole and back to my house. After this I couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night until 4 a.m. after which I did wake up at 2 p.m. the next day. When I went downstairs to eat breakfast, I realized that my cross around my neck was tied around itself, the cats had all disappeared and hid throughout the house, the temperature had been turned up to 71 degrees, and when I looked at the picture I took last night after the incident, I looked bad.”
The witness included a videotape statement of her encounter and one image.
Pennsylvania State Regional Director Fred Saluga closed this case as Information Only.
UFO reported under 400 feet over Virginia home
A Charlottesville, VA, witness reported a chevron-shaped UFO gliding silently under 400 feet over his home about 1 a.m. on March 28, 2014, according to testimony in Case 55008.
The witness reported that he could not sleep and went outside for a cigarette when the object was first seen.
“It was a breezy, clear night, with very few clouds in the sky,” the witness stated. “I leaned back on the deck railing and tilted my head back to see the stars. As I looked up, the wind quickly died down to a calm silence and then I noticed the black/slightly reflective chevron, V-shaped object come into vision from the southeast over the tree tops.”
The witness described the object’s movement.
“The object proceeded to glide directly over my head approximately 200-400 feet in altitude with no sound and no light emitted in a slight arch to the west. I estimate that the V was between 12-20 feet wide. Within 5-10 seconds I lost sight of the object behind a large tree in my backyard.”
The witness continued to look for the object.
“As I tried to reacquire the object, I saw one star-sized flash of light in the same direction the object was headed, and then five seconds later, one last flash of light in the same location.”
The witness could not identify the object.
“At first I was skeptical of this sighting as I live within two miles of a commuter airport, but due to the lack of any landing or strobe lights, the path of travel, no sound, and only two flashes of light in the distance, I believe this was a legitimate UFO sighting whether extraterrestrial or military drone.”
Virginia STAR Team Investigator Norman Gagnon closed this case as an Unknown.
“There are multiple municipal airports in the area of Charlottesville, two of which being about seven miles from the witnesses’ home; Snow Hill Airport and Bundoran Airport,” Gagnon wrote in his report. “Langley Air Force Base (Norfolk, VA), is about 100 miles ESE from Charlottesville.
“In his report, the witness wrote that the Navy regularly conducts touch and go training with E-2 Hawkeye early warning radar planes at his public airport. I asked him how he knew about the specific type of aircraft and also if he had a military background. He replied: ‘I don’t have any military experience and how I knew about the planes…I looked the Navy aircraft up online.’
“The witness is a young man and currently is an unemployed technician. He seems to be an aircraft enthusiast taking the time to observe, research and pinpoint the planes that fly over his area. I am closing this case as an Unknown.”
Washington witness reports UFO at tree line
A Lakewood, WA, witness reported a triangle-shaped UFO slowly moving at the tree line about 9:45 p.m. on March 28, 2014, according to testimony in Case 55021.
The witness was locking the front door when lights were noticed that appeared at first to be from a vehicle reflecting on glass.
“I looked down the street and saw a triangle-shaped object in the sky,” the witness stated.
The lights were so bright that the witness stepped outside for a better look.
“The object was traveling slow and hovered along the tree line. As it passed over my head I could see the outline of the object. I heard absolutely nothing.”
The witness described the object.
“The object appeared to be 20-30 feet in size. I live near a military base that flies planes and helicopters all the time. This object made no noise as it passed overhead. I ran from the front of the house to the back and then lost sight.”
Washington Field Investigator Maureen Morgan closed this case as Insufficient data.
“The slow, hovering movement; lights; and triangular shape of the object observed over Lakewood is not consistent with any aircraft the witness had seen before,” Morgan stated in her report. “The witness notes on the report form that airplane(s), helicopter(s), black helicopter(s), and searchlight(s) were observed, but does not specify as to whether they were present before, during or after the sighting.
“While the object could be an experimental aircraft or drone originating from McCord, its flight path directly over Lakewood and tree top altitude opens the possibility that it is not manmade. I am closing the case as Insufficient Data to make a determination.”
