William Shatner discusses The UnXplained’s major crossover event with Ancient Aliens, and what Gene Rodenberry knew about extraterrestrial life.
Willam Shatner’s The UnXlplained and Ancient Aliens are combining forces to figure out the mysteries of the universe. Typically, Friday nights on the History Channel include Ancient Aliens, then an episode of The UnXplained. This Friday, however, History will join the shows together in a two-hour special. Shatner is joining Giorgio Tsoukalos and the Ancient Alienscrew for a special called “William Shatner Meets Ancient Aliens.”
Den of Geek’s was able to catch up with Shatner and get some insight into what to expect on Friday’s crossover event and his thoughts on UFOs and extraterrestrial life. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

In my recollection, Shatner has never been particularly friendly to the UFO/ET research community, and he thought Star Trek fans were kind of goofy too, despite being his strongest supporters. But now that the government has admitted some UFO footage is real, it’s safe for him to talk about this stuff without the obligatory giggles (up to a point, anyway.) Nevertheless, I welcome him to the party: we can use all the resources that we can get after all of the despicable covert ops which were done to suppress & discredit this stuff. However, the words of Mark Twain echo faintly down the wasted decades… “In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”
