The first (and probably not the last) posthumous album of unreleased material by Michael Jackson is scheduled for a December 14, 2010 release. The cover art for the album is a painted collage of images depicting various songs, events, and interests from Jackson’s career and his private life. One of the images on this cover is the space ship from Steven Spielberg’s film E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.

Jackson was a big fan of the movie E.T., and he even admitted that he identified with the extraterrestrial title character from the movie. Jackson was able to be personally involved with the film when he was asked to narrate E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, an audiobook and soundtrack for Spielberg’s movie.

Michael Jackson was fascinated with the possibility of extraterrestrial life. According to author Michael Luckman, “If there was one thing that Michael Jackson hadn’t done in his entire life, and that he wanted to do very much, it was to make contact with extraterrestrials.”

Jackson even reportedly experienced his own UFO sighting.
